Model 3400 horizontal precision diamond wire saw

As the name implies, the model 3400 cuts with a horizontally moving wire.

This model is for cutting small samples (single crystals, semiconductors, ceramics, delicate materials etc.)

The piece to be worked can be positioned inside the loops, which makes accurate positioning possible before the cutting process and enables the piece to be observed during cutting. The object holder is fixed to the counterbalance rod which uses weights to ensure the right amount of force throughout the cut. The tensioning of the wire is also achieved by weights.

This saw enables wires with a particularly thin diameter (up to 0.08 mm) to be used. Many users often decide to mount a microscope onto the saw to get the right positioning of the diamond wire quicker or to observe the cut. A precision micrometer is delivered as a standard fixture to ensure quick and accurate positioning of the piece.
A sensitive setting is needed for moving the workpiece on a plate which uses gravity and is specially suited to small pieces.
As in model 3500, the piece is positioned inside the wire loop and the cutting process can be observed here too with a microscope.
